President Elect Donald Trump – Draining Washington DC Swamp? Ethics Reform?

On October 17, 2016, Trump announced his 5 point plan of Federal Government ethics reform at a pre-election rally in Wisconsin which you can watch and listen here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_Tr-_5PoLY

And from candidate Trump’s website:

First: I am going to re-institute a 5-year ban on all executive branch officials lobbying the government for 5 years after they leave government service. I am going to ask Congress to pass this ban into law so that it cannot be lifted by executive order.

Second: I am going to ask Congress to institute its own 5-year ban on lobbying by former members of Congress and their staffs.

Third: I am going to expand the definition of lobbyist so we close all the loopholes that former government officials use by labeling themselves consultants and advisors when we all know they are lobbyists.

Fourth: I am going to issue a lifetime ban against senior executive branch officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government.

And Fifth: I am going to ask Congress to pass a campaign finance reform that prevents registered foreign lobbyists from raising money in American elections.

Not only will we end our government corruption, but we will end the economic stagnation.

So those that voted for Trump presumed then candidate wanted to make sure that the system will not be rigged under a Trump Administration in favor of the small people and businesses.  Trump campaigned on a corrupt system made up of corporate lobbying and special interests which held influence over elected government officials.

Let’s take a look at the Trump Dream Team to help him to fight Washington corruption.

Looking into each individual that compose Trump’s administration one must ask what experience do each have that demonstrates they acted as leaders transforming large organizations for a purpose other than greed for personal profit.  After all, the Federal Government is not for profit but to use Taxpayers money efficiently for public service.

Lobbyists Subject to Stricter Limits…In the Name of “Ethics”…But Hold Them Words

Do what I say but not as I do!  I believe the term is hypocrite and that is on the respectable side of the description of what transpired.

President Obama on January 21st gave an executive decree to subject lobbyists to stricter guidelines such that small but powerful groups of people will not have any undue influence over the government before the interests of the citizens of the United States.  This was applauded by many including Senator John McCain.  Let’s see the video of President Obama.

However, less than 48 hours later, Obama’s administration gave an executive waiver to former defense lobbyist William Lynn who had previously represented Ratheon Corporation based in Massachusetts to become the next Deputy Secretary of Defense.  According to Raytheon SEC filing, Raytheon received $18.3 billion in government related businesses in 2007 and $17.0 billion in 2006.

Now, President Obama did retake the Oath of Office correctly the second time right?  Or, do we need further clarification from President Obama on what he means by “greater transparency”.  Cynic, nah, I’m just a confused taxpayer waiting to lose my job and have my government owned bank foreclose on me so the bank’s CEO can refurnish his office with a solid gold desk.
